Zihuatanejo

When I woke up this morning I felt like my head was a balloon on a string in a wind.
Later on...
I was walking across the room and the word Zihuatanejo popped into my head. I don't know why. Shawshank Redemption wasn't on. I wasn't listening to Salsa. I was walking and brushing my hair and poof...Zihuatanejo. It is possible a neuron simply misfired.

Sick or...

I think dad has pneumonia or a virus. He seems weaker and his voice is a bit hoarse. He has no energy. He doesn't want to eat...an ongoing problem. He requested his nebulizor medication. He is taking Darvocet frequently...I don't know if he is having that much pain since his last thoracentesis or...I don't know. He had some Levaquin left and started on that...but...I think he needs to go to the Dr. Of course he threw a big ass fit when I told him I was making an appointment and taking him. NO NO NO he told me.
okay...I get it. Don't help you
when I know better
shit
this has been a day from hell anyway and now I feel even more of a failure.

Birthday Girl and Memories

Katie will be 18 years old tomorrow.
Sometimes it feels like it's been 28 years and then sometimes it seems like only a few years have passed since she made her early appearance. She was 3 weeks early. We weren't even in our home town of Norfolk. Mark and I went to Omaha for the weekend. Several of his family were to be there. Also we wanted to hear his brother in laws band THE JACKS play. What can we say...we were groupies and fans. We danced one or two songs...but my damn back hurt...duh. Guess I was in labor. My water broke in the motel that night, around 2 or so. We went into the hospital around 5 or 6 and Katie was born at 8. Luckily Mark's sister (an OB nurse) had arranged a Dr to take call for me. I bet she paid for that one for a long time!! Katie made her presence with a bit of help from some forceps. She was a conehead for awhile...and had jaundice but no real big problems. I remember that I was the first one from my lamaaze group to have a baby. I went back and talked to them after Katie was born. You know...to lie and say, Yah...this lamaaze thing REALLY WORKS!! You bet your ass it does!!

Words and Stuff

I miss the Walt Disney World Sunday night movie and all the things related to that particular pleasure. Like the corny music and the deep, trusting voice of the narrator. A voice that seemed to be attached to an Uncle or a cousin or a Grandpa. The show Wild Kingdom was also on Sundays and I loved to curl up with a blanket and lay by the heat vent(closest thing to a fireplace at our house) and watch the adventures unfold. We usually popped popcorn (the old fahsioned way...on the stove), added butter by the stick and lots and lots of salt and we'd eat and watch tv.
god
I'm getting old...nostolgic even
shit...well, how can I help it. The Tv has been tuned in to ESPN, The Matrix and Pulp Fiction (which I love but am NOT in the mood for) for the last 6 hours....probably more but I got home about 6 hours ago.
Right now, I"m baking oatmeal cookies...some with chocolate chips, cereal, and some with white chocolate chips, raisins and some with all that stuff.
Our ":blizzard" is a bust. What a shock. Sometimes I think the media takes a "possible" storm and tweaks it for the economy's needs or the governments wants.
There is the possibllity that I'm not only getting nostolgic, but jaded and paranoid as well.

Video About Soda and Cancer

On February 24 and February 27, 2006, EWG (Environmental Working Group) purchased the following drinks at four major retail outlets in Washington, DC. They all contained ascorbic acid and either sodium benzoate or potassium benzoateĆ¢€”the ingredients that the FDA and the beverage industry have said can mix together to form benzene, a known human carcinogen. The actual levels of benzene formed in these products may be at trace levels and well within legal limits for drinking water.

Cancer SUCKS

Dad had a left lung thorecentesis yesterday. For him, it was extremely painful...the worst one yet. He said, "I'm not doing it again", and I think I believe him. Maybe there will be no need for it. They drained off 800cc of fluid this time. He took 2 Percocet for the pain and I think those meds helped him.
He is to get Zometa on March 9th or so.
I guess he is not choosing to do the parathyroid surgery.
He is depressed.
The last time he went to the Dr. (and I couldn't go to this appointment) the Oncologist said things that were depressing Mom said....like..."If I were a betting man I'd bet this cancer will come back", and "If you are going to be around for 4 or 5 years more I would suggest the surgery"...and I guess the way he said things he was looking down at his hands and just...depressing.
Dad's weight is 140's. He isn't eating. Doesn't want to.
But his scans are good. State...No sign of cancer.
Although his Calcium remains on the high side. 11 this time.
shit, I don't know.
Bastard Dr anyway.
Bastard Cancer anyway.
Fucking cigarettes anyway.

NEBRASKAland Days plans celebration of Buffalo Bill’s Birthday (NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS)

NEBRASKAland DAYS, the state’s official celebration wishes to invite “one and all” to its Buffalo Bill Birthday Bash -- a fundraising party commemorating Buffalo Bill Cody’s birthday. (AGAIN NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS)

According to NEBRASKAland Days Executive Director Lori Bortner, this Saturday, February 24, partygoers will find the Sandhills Convention Center in the North Platte Quality Inn transformed into the days when the world centered on Rome—with just a touch of the “Old West” thrown in for good measure. The theme for this year’s Bash is “Cowboy Toga” and attendees are encouraged to dress in their boots and “Greek apparel” (meaning Togas).

Yes...a TOGA PARTY for Cowboys....uh yahhhh...sign me up. I've got some Percale with a hankerin' for a chili sauce stain!

I Used To Be:

A RN who loved participating in procedures
An energetic person who liked walking, dancing, sports
Not so bitchy, or tired or grounded
Working for the weekend
Planning for a party
Less fat
Less skeptical
Willing to compromise
Less impatient
Willing to fake it (whatever "it" involved)
More affecionate
Less realistic
Able to daydream
Less Stupid
So...what am I now??
It doesn't look good.

Grape Nuts For Me Please!

Okay...forget CORNFLAKES! I cannot believe what I just found out via the "O Tapes" and GOOGLE. Dr. Kellogg, though brilliant, was a freak a zoid.

Valentines, Basketball and UGLY Canines

Alec's ball game was cancelled today because of bad weather.
figures...a home game...cancelled...not one of those hour or two away games...a home game. But that gave us time to decorate gigantic huge sugar cookies for tomorrow and we are DUN! Let the celebration begin!
Now...we are going to the girls basketball subdistrict over in Lexington.
But before I go...did anyone watch the WORLDS UGLIEST DOG contest last night??
OH
My
Lord it was AWESOME! I mean...this is a serious contest. AND there are some SERIOUSLY U*G*L*Y you ain't got no alibi...you UGLY...you UGLY...you UGLY! dogs in it. Archie won. and he deserved it.

A Valentine Ain't Nuthin' Without a Furry Chested Cupid

I've got my gorilla in a tu tu suit ready and waiting. Last night Mark and I watched King Kong. No...this isn't about some kinky sexual mating ritual...although...hmmmm
Anyway...we've got a ton of orders for large decorated sugar cookies to be made, personalized and delivered on Valentines day...by a gorilla in a tutu.
...if only I could sing...the mind boggles
Other than that...it's snowing, my roof still leaks, I found a humongous, worse than our living room ceiling, leak in our rental house garage...and many, many, many ruined christmas decorations, old electronic junk...and papers upon papers...probably nothing that important...but who knows really...anyone need a big pile of paper mache'? Maybe I'll make a pina'ta shaped like my house, stuff it full of old walllpaper and ceiling tiles and shoot it with a bazooka.

Time Flies Like The Drips Through My Ceiling

Someone asked me how the wrestling match went. Kind of laughing at the amount of time you spend at one...waiting to watch your kid and in a few minutes it's over.
It is kind of funny...unless it's you of course. I got to thinking about it and told someone it wasn't that much different than going to ball games.
On Friday we spent...1 and 1/2 hours on the road going to North Platte, 4 hours watching other kids wrestling, 6 minutes watching Andrew wrestle and 1 and 1/2 hours on the road going home. On Saturday we spent...1 and 1/2 hours on the road, 6 hours watching other kids wrestle, 5 minutes watching Andrew wrestle, 1 1/2 hours driving home, then 1 hour getting ready to leave and 20 minutes on the road to watch the girls basketball game, 1 hour watching other kids play and 1 minute watching Katie play, then we watched to boys basketball game and then spent 20 minutes driving home.
crazy doesn't even begin to describe the insanity of it all

What I did today

We went back up to North Platte this morning, after I went into the coffee shop for a bit. Katie nicely agreed to work for me so we could go up to Andrew's district wrestling meet. We left at 7:30am and we got there a bit early. Andrew went the whole 3 rounds but ended up losing 4-1. He left it all on the mat...wrestled with heart today, and we are proud of him. He is pissed that he lost and it's going to take awhile for him to get over that. But he will. Soon he will have track to occupy him. On a good note Cambridge had two other wrestlers who made it to state. That is next weekend. We stayed for finals and then took off for home.
We got back into town at about 5pm. Katie had a b-ball game in Arapahoe at 6pm. Mark rested a bit. I cleaned up a bit. Smelling like a billy goat didn't seem like the thing to do. Soon as I was smelling fresh, we jetted down to the coffee shop, picked up Alec, who was learning to bake cookies with my mom and we headed out to the game.
We ended up winning. Katie did not play so that was very disappointing. Unless you count 30 seconds at the end of the 4th quarter which is really just an insult. I can't believe that she is that bad that she shouldn't sub in before some of the others but...what the hell do I know. I'm just a parent and therefore biased.
We stayed for the boys game and they lost. Nuff said.
Things I didn't do:
shop...unless you count a griddle, and two frying pans for the shop
eat healthy food...unless you count Valentinos peach cobbler...I mean that is a fruit isn't it?
go to the bowling alley for a soire with my BP's
lose 30 pounds

Bowl Me Over Baybe

Andrew wrestled his way into another day at districts.
Off to North Platte we go again, tomorrow. He needs 2 wins to continue on.
Katie's b-ball team won their game tonight too.
Tomorrow night another game. We'll probably be done with wrestling in time to watch that.

...and I really wanted to meet the BP's for an impromptou soire at the bowling alley tomorrow night. Somehow I'd forgotten that the entire weekend would be slated for the kids games/meets as usual. BP extraordinaire' Teter Bag will be guttering balls tomorrow night and I so wanted to cheer her on.

...maybe after the cross state trek, the wrestling, the ball games, emptying out the "drip pans" from my ceiling of niagra falls, perusing for Petie piss and wiping up as necessary, the laundry, the shop, the exercise which I won't do, the supper I won't cook, the...blah blah blah blah blah

maybe ins pite of it all...I'll go anyway

Damn

Talked with mom about 1 hour ago.

Test Day

Dad had a CT scan with barium swallow today.
We went up to Kearney, did the test, got groceries in Holdridge, and came home.
We go back to Kearney on Monday for the results.
We have not received the results for the test ordered by the endocrinologist either.
Do we want to or???
I don't know.
Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Your Kids SUCK! Get the Orange Jump Suit Ready...unless that really isn't your kid...oops

Parent teacher conferences tonight.
CALGON TAKE ME THE HELL AWAY FROM HERE!!!!!!
gag
I HATE PTC with a passion!
So far I learned that my "boys" are, respectful, loud, smirky, good at tests, bad at testing, loud in the halls, hard working, forgetful at turning in their assignments, astonished at a poor grade, happy to be "just getting by", sitting in a "self contained" unit, playing footsie, not very arty, running around the halls instead of playing in the band, busy in band playing a song, "squirrely", good at math, bad at math, good in science bad in science, in school suspension...noooo...wait...that wasn't mine...although a teacher told me it was...right before she said...Oh...wait, maybe that wasn't your kid...nope...oops...maybe most of what I just told you WASN'T REALLY ABOUT YOUR KID!!!
Oh really...thank you VERY LITTLE!!
HOLY MOTHER OF DUNCE CAPS!!

So Katie is doing alright...pretty good really.

Unless that was someone elses kid they were talking about.

Tits over Ass

Our house that is.
There seems to be a general "lean" in our home now. Perhaps it's the ICE AND SNOW! I'm not sure but I wouldn't be surprised to find our house lying on it's side soon.

Arthritis Tylenol...or LSD??

I took 2 arthritis Tylenol last night...no not with acohol...just water.
I then proceeded to dream the WIERDEST dream ever.
Here goes:
First, I was at work, at the coffee shop, and the place was full. I remember pouring someone a whole carafe of coffee and burning myself. Then, Spike showed up to work but Sandy didn't. I saw Cindy H driving by and I went outside and she picked me up. The trucks were out throwing salt on the roads and I remember Cindy roaring through a slug of it. Kurt, Cindy's other half, was in the backseat with his daddy long legs pulled up to his chin. Suddenly we were heading toward their house. I remember thinking maybe I should be at work...oh well. Cindy was telling me how their white horse was behaving strange and running away. I asked them if she was too old to go into heat and acting like I knew something about horses. We got to their pasture and the horses ran up. The white horse was snorting and sassing around. She was aching to kick someones ass. I got out and tried to feed her a cinnamon bear. Kurt threw a saddle on the fence and said, "Get that ole rag cinched up", and I hoped he meant the horse, not Cindy. hahahahahahaha Then I woke up.
Now, I'm late for work.

Must...Go...To...Bed...Must...Go...To...Bed...

Just spending a bit of time chewing the nails and knowing I should be in bed sleeping. I've been looking at You Tube movies about cancer. There are plenty...sadly.
I'm going now.
Not only do I have to work tomorrow...but I have a meeting with the "lesbian cup" salesman.
oh boy
no more please
I think I have enough
